I'm feeling sad and disappointed over the location of tree plantings throughout my condo complex. In order to meet Metro Forestry's canopy requirement 27 - 2 inch caliper trees are being planted throughout our property to replace the removed trees that were necessary to complete the drainage projects in 2 areas. It breaks my heart that 5 trees were removed with only 2 trees to be planted in the courtyard in front of Units 68-77; an area that happens to be the longest courtyard in the Versailles Townhomes; yet two trees are replacing 1 tree removed tree behind Unit 54 courtyard area giving this small courtyard 3 trees and then to see a tree accidentally removed between the driveway and I440 being replaced., well I am just heartsick.
Below: these are just 2 of the trees removed in front of Units 68-77 ... and yes I am directly affected with the beautiful blooming tree removed was the view out my living room window.

Jill Markey
Markey is a seasoned talent who instantly communicates a passion for her craft to everyone who sees and hears her. She has performed for three past U.S. Presidents and has shared stages with the likes of Bobby Blue Bland, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Frankie Valley, Sammy Kershaw, The Osmond's, and many more. She was recently chosen as one of the top five songwriters for Georgia's Songwriter Showcase Award. Her music has been featured on ESPN and seen success on various different music charts. Her band “Markey” is currently signed with blues record label I 55.
Stacie Collins Band
Harmonica blowin’ hell-cat STACIE COLLINS is a blazing a trail travelled by few women. Sporting a hard-core honky-tonk wail while backed by a slam-bang rock 'n' roll band, she weds Stones fried rock-n-roll, gut bucket blues and vintage honky-tonk. Produced by rock legend Dan Baird (The Georgia Satellites / Homemade Sin), her 2007 release, THE LUCKY SPOT became a fan favorite and received airplay world wide. Based in Nashville, TN, she tours the US, Scandinavia and Europe regularly and has even spawned a Japanese “Stacie Collins” tribute band.
Peter Moon Band
"The Peter Moon Band is kinda like Train, Tom Petty,Sublime and James Brown road trippin' with the Dalai Lama - Otis Redding is driving the bus!" (Dave Bartley, WKXD FM) The PMB is a great orignal band as well as a party cover band, playing 150 shows a year. Peter has written 4 albums and a rock opera with Peggy Frank over the last several years, selling over 10,000 units without a label deal. He teases Peggy that she is cowriting songs about herself. Drummer John Bartolotta and Bassman Doug Kennedy add the bump and grind to create the PMB's signature sound.
Rigby Boland Project
Sax player Jimmy Bowland of the Rigby Bowland Project tours with the Temptations, the Tuscaloosa Horns and Brenda Lee. The rest of the band is equally gifted and accomplished, featuring bassist Eric Stephens, drummer Steve Emmahauser, keyboardist Nic Wood and guitarist David Martin. This super tight 5 piece serves up cool jazz, sweet soul and hot funk in equal measure!

Headlight Restoration
I just had my car headlight covers restored; the fogginess is gone and they look brand new; I highly recommend Xisle Auto (474-6100) here in Nashville and ask for Tom... They are professional and did an awesome job right in my parking lot... with a great guarantee and believe me, you can't beat their priceSep 27, 2011

Abrupt end of the Monkees tour leaves fans wondering why

The remaining dates of the Monkees 45th anniversary tour of the U.S. were canceled Monday. No official reason was given, but informed sources said the rest of the dates were not run by the group. Reports had starting circulating earlier in the day that some or all of the dates had been cancelled. A posting on Davy Jones' Facebook page was the first official word to confirm it. It read:
After having contacted a representative of Davy Jones, it has been determined that the remainder of The Monkees 2011 tour HAS BEEN CANCELLED. No reason has been given at this time. When more information becomes available, it will be posted.
Furthermore, it is the request of the Facebook Team that you respect the privacy of The Monkees and refrain from posting any speculation on the matter in your Facebook comments on this site.
When information is available from an official reliable source, it will be made available to you. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support of The Monkees. ~ FB Team

Drainage Project at My Condo
This is what I came home to from my vacation; that's my stair landing with the yellow tape; my beautiful blooming tree is gone ... all the trees in this courtyard are gone and with no canopy. I had to lower my air conditioner by a few degrees so up will go my electric bill not to mention the impact on the environment.
The forms were put in today; I'm a little more optimistic than I was this morning; things seem to be looking up with the new sidewalk curving through the courtyard rather than just being in a straight line...perhaps this means there are plans to beautify the area; I am hoping that these plans will include mature trees planted where they were removed; the tree was such an integral part of my internal environment so I'd love to have it replaced; and not only my place but my neighbors in this area ... I'm choosing to assume that the area is going to be put back more beautiful than before with a view out my living room window that will be breathtaking... you know I'll keep you posted.

Saddened by Loss of Trees
I am absolutely heartbroken to tears ;-( There is a drainage project taking place in front of my condo building and although I have been told on four occasions that the blossom tree in front of my place would not need to be removed I found out that my Condo Board and Property Management of Nashville had it taken out while I've been away on holiday. ALL the trees have been removed and I feel sick. The beautiful tree that graced my living room window has senselessly been removed; I could view this tree from my sun room all the way through the living room; not to mention when I'd sit out on my porch. A couple of years ago the lower branches of the beautiful and healthy tulip poplar tree that is outside my sun room were cut; my home sanctuary will never be the same; I loved those trees; watching the birds and squirrels ... such an unnecessary loss on both counts.

Amazing African Experience
I just had to share this facebook post by my daughter Shanah. I had the pleasure of spending some time with Dani in Hawaii and I'm so excited that she has this opportunity and what an adventure for her; this picture truly says it all; can you imagine the feeling ... Shanah wrote ... "My amazing hanai sister, Dani, at her vet internship in Africa this summer...beautiful and such an inspiration!!!”

My Daughter's Trip to Peru
I just want to share a few photos of my daughter Raina's trip to Peru; her adventurous and challenging hike up to Machu Picchu and Amazon. She and her two friends Meghan and Vallerie joined a group of 15 along with a guide.Raina likened this trip as the Ironman for the Traveller! I'm glad she didn't include photos of the tarantulas etc from the Amazon.
She worked a day in a Peru clinic and held a successful conference sharing her knowledge as a specialist in hand therapy, posturing etc. then met up with her friends for their incredible journey. I suppose you can say I'm a mom with bragging rights.
